Sub Elite Silver Skill
Sub Elite Silver Skills:
First off, I don't think they should be called that, because thats a dumb name, but I'm not sure what else to call them, so that'll do.
My idea is that there should be another category of skills. As everyone knows, there are Elite skills, which are bordered in gold, and normal skills, that are not bordered. I think there should be a third branch of skills, with a silver border. In this branch should be the more powerful skills, but not as good as elite skills.
For example, the loved and hated Mystic Regeneration is a bit better than the standard skills (1/4 cast, 5 regen, huge regeneration) but not as good as some elites. There would be a limit on these "Silver Skills", I think no more than two or three would be good.
I don't think that ArenaNet should make a whole new branch of skills, but turn some of the existing skills into silver skills. This would prevent straight nerfs, but would nerf certain builds. I made up some new skill icons for some of the more powerful skills that I believe could use a limit.
Having this restriction would allow certain builds to continue to work, but would nerf the most annoying builds, such as the R/N Touch Ranger, or the E/D Earth Magic Elementalist.
Please tell me what you guys think !

I believe those are called PvE-only skills. You can use three at a time, just like you wanted.
As for regular, everyday skills...there are strong ones and not-so-strong ones for a reason. It's all relative.

yes i think PvE skills fill in that niche....
On the other hand if Anet buffed those skills to make them silver (reduce cast time on MS or remove exhaustion on it for example) then yeah.
but its a bit late to start doing stuff like that now (from Anets point of view at least)

Heal other is definitely so good that it needs to be a silver skill. Please put dolyak signet on that list too.

I'd rather have these silver skills than PvE-only skills.

Which are both very easy to deal with.
Eh, I don't know. Sorry, but this sort of feels like a veiled "please nerf builds that are too 'good' in RA" suggestion, to me.

I dont understand how making them "silver" would nerf them if they are getting more damage/lower recharge/quicker cast/etc.

Neither of those is annoying. Perhaps if you run into a group of 4, but that's about it.
Touchers in particular were only useful since boon prots couldn't outheal them. These days they don't matter anymore.
Earth tanks aren't really relevant. They're slow, and prone to myriad of caster shutdowns and enchant counters.

As people said, these are basically PvE skills.
And those skills you think are "silver" are just... wow.

I think some skill types are self-limiting.
You can't have 2 Stances going, you can't have 2 Preparations, you can't have 2 Weapon Spells on the same guy and you can't use 2 Item Spells. I am not sure about Glyphs.
There is no point making more more restrictions.
If Anet really feels the need for a nerf/buff of this nature, they can kick some lousy Elites back down to normal, and promote some awesome skills to Elite.

Anthem of Flame? O.o
You made a pretty good joke list! Excellent job!
The only really good use of Anthem of Flame is to keep echoes maintained between battles, and paras now can use Anthem of Weariness instead for even more usefullness in battle.

I can kill someone using any of those skills with my PvP ranger. Try using interrupts sometime.
Frankly, the idea is just silly. PvE skills already exist, we don't need more skill types floating around.

how about
they balance skills instead?
also, not a single one of those skills is 'too good'. In fact, most of them are bad in pvp and marginal-to-good in pve.
Unless you're suggesting balancing the game around RA and AB. In which case, never, ever, EVER make a post about skill balance ever again.
